XPPen Collaborates with the Ottawa International Animation Festival to Celebrate Artistic Excellence

XPPen proudly sponsored the "XPPen Craft Award for Best Animation Technique" at the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) in September 2024, a prestigious honor recognizing outstanding technical innovation in the animation field. On September 28, the award was presented to the film Glass House, directed by Boris Labbé, along with XPPen products as prizes for the winners. XPPen is thrilled to be part of the advancement of animation techniques and craftsmanship.

The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is one of the most renowned animation festivals in the world, held from September 25 to 29, 2024, attracting over 25,000 participants from around the globe. Established in 1975, OIAF has grown to become North America's largest and oldest animation festival, showcasing a vibrant world of animated films and media.

Fostering Creativity and Collaboration

The festival features a variety of activities, including artistic programs, industry planning sessions at the Animation Conference (TAC) with over 300 participants, animation exhibitions, and recruitment packages. Additionally, OIAF offers a Youth Program, providing local youth with access and learning opportunities to nurture the next generation of animators.

In 2024, OIAF is expected to welcome approximately 27,288 attendees and 1,955 pass holders, showcasing an impressive array of animated works and industry insights.

As previously mentioned, the 2024 XPPen Craft Award for Best Animation Technique is an accolade established by XPPen to encourage participants at the OIAF. Boris Labbé’s remarkable work Glass House has earned this coveted award. The jury commented, "This experiment leaves the viewer curious and intrigued by the vibrating patterns and complex layers, all while creating a hypnotic geometric dance."
